Introduction to Ashbourne Family Practice (GP Surgery)
- Welcome to Ashbourne Family Practice. This GP practice opened in 1998 and is located beside Dunnes Stores Car Park in Ashbourne.
Medical care is provided for all ages. We are sensitive to the needs of children and teenagers
and try to make their visit to the GP as informal as possible. There are currently three GP's and two practice nurses working in our surgery:
Dr. Aisling Malone, Dr. Stephen Murphy, Dr. Clare Leonard, Nurse Antonia Wilkinson and Nurse Sally Beazley.
In 2013, Dr Stephen Murphy became a Specialist GP Trainer for the Dublin Mid Leinster GP Training Scheme. Each year, a doctor, who wishes to specialise as a General Practitioner, works in our practice to gain valuable training and experience.
Our reception area is run by Karen, Lisa, Roslyn, Siobhan, Rita and Crona. We cater for both Private and GMS patients and are registered with the Garda Medical Scheme.
A wide range of services are provided, many of which are listed below and can be found on our Services page. The practice is appointment based but will cater for urgent cases as needed.

COVID Vaccine Boosters
Please email us (ashbournefamilypractice@gmail.com) if you are eligible for the COVID Booster vaccine (see further info on HSE Booster ) and we will try to accommodate you in one of our vaccine clinics.
Important Notice
We really appreciate all your support during this difficult time due to the Covid Pandemic. We have seen a huge increase in our workload again in recent weeks and have made the decision to close the surgery at 4pm. There have been a number of changes implemented during this COVID pandemic:
- 1. Added 6 phones to free up lines to administration. We understand, especially in the mornings, that it can be difficult to get through to us. Please keep trying. Staff are answering calls as quickly as possible.
- 2. PPE/HandGel/changes to work areas to keep staff and patients safe.
- 3. Telephone consultations in so far as possible.
- 4. Prescriptions now being emailed over to patient’s pharmacy of choice.
- 5. Specific “walk through” Flu Vaccine clinics to minimise patient’s waiting times in the surgery.
- 6. Chronic Disease Management Programme has been introduced for our eligible over 65 patients
